Sandzak-based Food Processing Companies Received Halal Certificates with USAID Support

Novi Sad, May 15: Nine food processing companies from Sandzak (Giljeva, Sjenicanka, Sandzak Komerc, Fass, Milkop, Turkovic-Lav, Polimka, Ljin, and Zornic) received their Halal certificates from the Serbian Halal Certification Agency, the official certifying body for Serbia.

Certificates were awarded by Susan Fritz, USAID Mission Director in Serbia and mufti Mustafa Jusufspahic, Halal Agency Director, at a special ceremony held May 15 during the 79th International Agricultural Trade Fair.

Diplomatic and economic representatives of Kuwait, Indonesia, Malaysia, Azerbaijan embassies and representatives of Islamic Community of Serbia were among the guest at the ceremony. 

Call for Proposals - Municipality of Vranje - Implementation of Youth Entrepreneurship Action Plan (YEAP)

Belgrade / Vranje, May 5, 2012 - Mayor of City of Vranje announced a Call for Proposals for allocation of funds, secured in the municipal budget for 2012 for youth entrepreneurship development project "From idea to realization" that will support five young business owners (youth defined as population younger than 35).

Young business owners in Vranje to receive business development grants through city’s Youth Entrepreneurship Action Plan (YEAP)

Vranje, May 7:  Five Vranje-based youth-owned manufacturing enterprises each will receive $2,000 grants to invest in equipment and materials or marketing opportunities like trade fair attendance to ensure the firms’ sustained growth and expansion.

The funds are available as part of the Economic Security Program’s YEAP activities that creates a cost-sharing partnership between USAID and participating communities. 

Young entrepreneurs learn the ropes from veterans as ES Project-supported companies exhibit at Belgrade’s Construction Fair

Belgrade, April 30: The Economic Security Project supported four of its light manufacturing companies’ exhibition at the 2012 Belgrade Construction Fair, the largest of its kind in South East Europe.  

The companies, Tobler, Celiku, Termomont and Dekor M&V, have been active participants in ES program business support activities.  They served as role models at the fair for six of the program’s youth-owned businesses (Nimeti, Lindi, Unikat, Becki, Vizijal and Mobi Alu-Max) recently included in business support training and technical support services.
