"Serbia agriculture companies negotiated a contract worth $20 million through export sales of agriculture products at the trade fairs in Germany and Dubai in the previous month," said today USAID Mission Director Michael Harvey. Harvey added, "$1.7 million worth of Serbia's produce is already en route to Russia and France" at the seminar in marketing and sales for Serbian agricultural companies held on 11 March 2008.
The theme of the seminar was preparation for the 75th Novi Sad agricultural trade fair, within two USAID projects, Agribusiness and Economic Security. Two USAID projects, Agribusiness and Economic Security, will provide financial and technical assistance to twelve small and medium companies from all around the country for their joint presentation at this largest agricultural show in the region. Representatives of twelve agricultural companies took part at the seminar: Galant and IG-LU from Kraljevo, Fontana from Pressevo, Natural food from Bujanovac, Subex from iz Novi Pazar, Frigo-Nais from Kursumlija, Dairy Zlatibor from Uzice, Begecki povrtari vegetables producers from Begej, Fruitland from Subotica, Moravica and Agrograf from Arilje and Bilje Borca from Belgrade.
Two USAID projects, Agribusiness and Economic Security, aim to support the development of agriculture companies, increase jobs and improve competitiveness of Serbian producers, as well as help businesses in difficult environments grow and provide employment opportunities for the country’s most vulnerable people.
